ricoh camera

Picked this up yesterday for $5.
I really like the bright box design, made up of primary colours, plus green. It is so appropriate for a camera, and makes me think of the creative possibilities of a camera. Just like the primary colours can be combined to create any colour.

(The set is complete with instruction manual and camera, but I haven't tried the camera yet because it needs a battery, but it looks OK).

marimekko

Marimekko green pears. A finish textile company that began in the 50s.

This design was some of the influence for the name of this blog. The simplicity of the image is so beautiful.

Aesthetically pears are an interesting fruit, a bit of an individual of the fruit world I think. Their shape is reminiscent of people. A humanist fruit, maybe. Also, I like eating them - waiting for the perfect ripeness.

Argentina hand-painted signs

These photos were taken by Christina while she was in Argentina. I love South American typography.

mint chews

I really dig shadow type and 3D type at the moment!
Found this in Prahran.

iron box

I found this old iron box in a shop in Windsor. The script typography is so cool. The little floating men are scary - I wouldn't trust an electrical product with these characters smiling at me.

found japan cards

I found these items at the same market stall in Tokyo. This is some kind of instruction manual I think. There are pictures of people's faces inside and all Japanese writing. I wouldn't have a clue what it is for. I really like the city scape and her rosy cheeks.

This is some kind of postcard I think. Pretty cute kid and that toy looks pretty cool.

Ah, I miss Japan.

found Japan photos

I picked up these photos from a market in Tokyo when I was there last October. I especially like the first one - her clothes and hair are so cool and I like her expression. I think that one might be a personal photo because it has some Japanese writing on the back - like you would see in a photo album.

The second and third photo I think might be more like postcards.

mini-fan

Picked this up at a salvation army store. I love the ice crystals hanging over the type. Classic orange colour. The fan is actually still inside but I haven't tested it yet. Love the idea of fanning a bbq with it - so versatile!
